Elizabeth Barlow's exquisitely layered oil paintings consider the essence of beauty while they tell stories- both specific and universal - through the placement of seemingly ordinary objects and their shadows. Her 'Portraits in Absentia' explore flowers (Barlow's most beloved subject) as well as everyday objects that are imbued with meaning, if one looks closely enough. Firmly rooted in realism and created in the spirit of the great portraiture tradition, Barlow's signature still life paintings offer a respite of calm amidst chaos.
