Long Summer Shadow - July 29 -September 16, 2017

August 20, 2017

Long Summer Shadow, Opening Night, Saturday July 29.

The exhibition hangs July 29 – September 16, 2017

All five artists included in the group exhibition were at the Long Summer Shadow opening, including Diana Tremaine, Laurent Davidson, Gary Bukovnik, Mary Robertson, and Justyna Kieselewicz, who were on hand to celebrate the opening, meet and mingle with guests, and discuss their works first hand.

Diana Tremaine’s oil painting ‘Long Summer Shadow’ 2016, gives the show its name, and is the inspiration for the fresh colorful summer themed feel.  Diana’s paintings instantly recall childhood memories: diving into a cool pool, bright striped beach balls, and carefree moments of sundrenched freedom.

Laurent Davidson’s bright vivid clever mobiles and stabilio-mobiles are so compelling.  One cannot look at his gorgeously colored sculptures breathing softly with the wind without smiling. They are simply happy!  The frames are constructed of aluminum and the shapes themselves are suspended by musicians wire to give them their life and buoyancy.  Davidson’s distinct shapes evoke waves of energy or musical notes in their graceful forms.

Gary Bukovnik works in lovely delicate and detailed watercolors.  Bouquets of fresh water colored flowers bring joy and exuberance to the gallery walls. His paintings are done on thick beautiful papers with soft edges, revealing the luxuriousness of the material.  His watercolors are poetic as they depict nature’s most beautiful shapes and varied colors. Still life flowers are rendered with tenderness and delight.

Mary Robertson‘s oil paintings are so evocative that people will often come into the gallery, look at her wonderful paintings of life on the Russian River, and reminisce of their own summers there.  Remarkably, people immediately guess the scenery as the Russian River.  The tubes, canoes, umbrellas, beach goers, and the river itself combine to give viewers a moment of summer fun and relaxation.

Beautiful Justyna Kieselewicz’s paintings and self-portraits are exuberant, bright, bold, and thoroughly contemporary. Her excellent skill as a watercolorist and oil painter shows in her whimsical and thought provoking details.  Her personal natural warmth shines through in her jubilant work.

The chemistry between the works of each of these unique artists brings a freshness and warmth of summer.  Come into the gallery and dive into summer!
